What type of activities and attractions should I add to my summer bucket list in New Orleans?

In addition to booking a stay at the floating cabins for rent at Bayou Segnette State Park, there are many things to do in the summer in New Orleans. One of our favorite summer activities is to explore some of the best parks in Louisiana. Near New Orleans, you can visit the Jean Lafitte National Park. Here, you can enjoy some of Louisiana’s natural beauty.

Give yourself plenty of time to take a hike in this national park. One of our favorite hiking trails in this national park is the Palmetto Trail, which leads you to Marsh Overlook. This trail is only 1.8 miles round trip and will take you over boardwalks and through marshes. Keep your eyes out as you hike as you may even spot an alligator!

Another excellent summer activity near New Orleans is to spend a day tubing on the Bogue Chitto. There are multiple companies that offer day-long floats, which are perfect for cooling off, spending time with friends, and creating memories. You can even bring a tube for your cooler so you will have food and cold drinks all day long on the water.
