If you’ve been living in New Orleans for a while and are looking for a unique activity to entertain you, consider a trip to the Chalmette Battlefield. It’s beautiful, historic, and there’s even a tower you can climb!

To get to Chalmette Battlefield, continue down St. Claude Ave towards Arabi, until it becomes St. Bernard Highway.

The Battlefield is at 8606 West St. Bernard Highway.
This was the site of the January 8, 1815 Battle of New Orleans.

Some say that this battle never needed to be fought, since a treaty was signed in 1814.
Tour guides at the site will be on hand to give you information about the War of 1812, which made Andrew Jackson a war hero.
