Tickfaw State Park is located in Springfield, Louisiana. This Livingston Parish town may be tiny, clocking in at less than 500 residents, but it’s home to one of the most beautiful state parks in Louisiana.
The 1,200 acre state park opened up in 1999 and quickly became a popular attraction for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature for a while.
In addition to the fishing ponds, campsites, playgrounds, and picnic shelters, there’s also a nature center featuring several displays so you can learn about the history and culture of the area in addition to seeing several live animals up close/
But the main attraction to Tickfaw State Park are the trails.
Tickfaw State Park contains several boardwalk and and gravel trails that will lead you through some truly spectacular scenery.
You’ll experience the sights and sounds of four different ecosystems: a cypress/tupelo stamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine/hardwood forest and the Tickfaw River.
Along your adventure, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. The area is home to alligators, armadillos, beavers, white-tailed deer, possums, rabbits, and countless other critters.
After you’ve strolled through the miles of boardwalk trails, you can rent a canoe and set off on the canoe trails to explore the Tickfaw River from an entirely new perspective.
You'll quickly fall in love with this beautiful state park, and you may not want to leave. That's great! You can bring your own gear or rent one of their cabins to extend your stay.
