Float Houses Are Popping Up All Over New Orleans For Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras may look a little different this year, that’s for sure. But in the face of losing one of the most iconic traditions in the Crescent City, New Orleans still found a way. When Megan Boudreaux posted a throw away comment on twitter, she had no idea the community would take it and run with it. The idea, Krewe of House Floats, keeps the spirit of Mardi Gras alive while still keeping everyone safe.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

If you’re interested in decorating your own home, be sure to check their website to join your neighborhood’s subkrewe so you can join in on the fun! Their website has a detailed list of local float artists that would love to help decorate your home, but you can also do it yourself! They will also post a live map on February 1, 2021 so you’ll have a full list of all of the Krewe of House Floats.
