Taking a stroll down this 600-foot-long cobblestone street feels like you’ve stepped into another world. Although today you’ll find some shops peppered along the way, in the 1920s the alley was home to various apartment buildings and homes.

Here, he wrote his first novel, "Soldier’s Pay."

Often called the most charming bookstore in the country, Faulkner House Books has been open since 1990 and continues to draw countless amounts of tourists every year.

Emphasis on cozy. The bookstore is so small that only 12 people are allowed in at a time.

You could easily spend an afternoon here just reading all the titles.

You’ll find rare editions, priceless collections, and of course books by and about William Faulkner.
