8 Easy Trails Near New Orleans To Awaken Your Adventurous Spirit
Sure, just about every trail in the Greater New Orleans Area could be qualified as “easy,” since we lack the steep elevation that our northern friends do. But just because a trail is labeled as easy doesn’t mean it’s boring! There are several delightful trails near New Orleans that are perfect for awakening your adventurous spirit, and here are some of our favorites.

This lovely pedestrian trail extends from Louis Armstrong Park over to Bayou St. John, and is a lovely 4.5-mile stroll through the city.
There are a few different trails within the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, and each one would make for a fabulous outing. The Adventure Trail is just over a mile in length, and the interpretive signs along the way are great for families with little ones.
Right in the heart of City Park lies this beautiful 60-acre forest with a lovely one-mile trail that will lead you through the park. Great for those days when you want to get away from it all but don’t have the time to drive very far.
If you want a longer trail, the City Park South Loop clocks in at just about four miles and is great if you’re looking to up the mileage on your walks.
Just shy of two miles, the Audubon Park Loop is picture-perfect in every way.
If you’ve got the time to leave the city, head over to the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Center and tackle this seven-mile trail with endless marsh scenery.
This trail is a little bit further away, but worth every mile. You’ll find the Cane Bayou Track in Mandeville’s Fontainebleau State Park. The trail is about 3.5 miles and leads to some stunning marsh and lake views.
While you’re on the Northshore, pop over to the Northlake Nature Center, which is just down the street from Fontainebleau State Park. This two-mile trail will have you weaving through the wetlands and forests of the nature center. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, you never know what critters will be out and about.
