New Orleans has a variety of strange and unusual laws that are surprising and often humorous.
This won't come as a surprise--New Orleans has some truly strange laws. From the parish, the state, and the city itself, there are some rules on the books that just don't make any sense at all. These are some of the most weird laws in New Orleans that that are definitely going to blow your mind.
1) It’s not permitted to chase fish in City Park.
How do you chase fish?
2) Horses can never be tied up to a tree on a public highway.
Got it.
3) It’s illegal to play a game on a neutral ground unless the area is designated as a playground.
No playing here.
4) And if you want to play a game in Lafayette Square, you must obtain written permission.
I wonder if cards are allowed.
5) You can’t feed your pigs any uncooked garbage. (Jefferson Parish Sec. 7-187)

6) You cannot steal someone else’s alligator (RS 14:67.13)
But I guess you can steal it from the swamp?
7) Reptiles are to be kept at least 200 yards away from a parade. (New Orleans Sec. 43-21)
8) It is illegal to ride a bike with only one hand. (New Orleans Sec. 154-1414)
9) It is illegal to engage in a ritual where you drink your own pee or anyone else’s pee. (RS 14:107.1)
10) You cannot shoot lasers at police officers.
11) Mardi Gras beads can’t be thrown from a window three stories up.
12) If you’re a minor, you can’t go to coin-operated foosball machines unless an adult accompanies you.
