While Louisiana may not get quite as much fall color as the states in New England, you’ll still find that the Pelican State knows how to celebrate the changing season. An easy drive from New Orleans and Baton Rouge, this picturesque park offers over 1,200 acres to explore.

As mentioned above, parks are a great place to explore in New Orleans during the fall. Bogue Chitto State Park is a wonderful place to explore Louisiana nature at its finest. Boasting a beautiful river, meandering boardwalk trails, and scenery for as far as the eye can see, this park is a picture-perfect fall destination near New Orleans. Another beautiful place to visit is Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area. It’s a little bit of a drive from New Orleans — about 2.5 hours — but don’t let that deter you from making this fun Louisiana day trip. The trails here offer an incredible insight into the landscape and you’ll likely spot some fall foliage if you visit during October and November.
