This iconic little steakhouse has been feeding New Orleanians for 85 years, and it’s time you paid them a visit. This old school New Orleans eatery is home to the biggest steak we’ve ever seen, and it’ll take more than one person to finish it off.

John Vojkovich opened Crescent City Steak House in 1934, making it the oldest family-owned steakhouse in New Orleans.

Vojkovich immigrated to New Orleans from Croatia in 1923. After deciding that life on an oyster boat wasn’t for him, he worked in restaurants around New Orleans, learning the tricks of the trade. He quickly excelled, starting off first as a busboy and then to waiter before eventually managing a restaurant. He fell in love with the restaurant business and knew that he would one day open his own.
His dreams came true when he was 26, and he opened Crescent City Steak House in 1934. It still stands in the same location, going strong all these years later.

Whether you're celebrating an anniversary or a milestone or just looking for a reason to treat yourself, Crescent City Steak House is just the spot.
His was the first steakhouse to import prime beef to New Orleans. When they first opened, their menu was simple and only offered the best, USDA prime aged beef from Chicago.

We actually have Vojkovich to thank for sizzling steaks. Crescent City Steak House was the first to serve steaks sizzling in butter, a signature style that has become iconic in New Orleans.
