The second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans after the French Quarter, Algiers Point is a charming little neighborhood you simply have to check out. In the 1920s, Jazz musicians nicknamed the area the “Brooklyn of the South” for it proximity to New Orleans as compared to New York City and Brooklyn. Filled with character and incredibly unique, this may just be New Orlean’s best kept secret.

This quiet suburb located right on the Mississippi River is an eclectic mix of creole cottages, art galleries, charming pubs, and so much history.
You can get to Algiers point by taking a short ferry ride from Canal Street.
The ferry departs every 30 minutes (on the hour and on the half hour) and only takes a few minutes. Plus, you’ll have lovely views along the way!
Algiers Point is a beautiful, walkable area with tons of activities to keep you occupied for an afternoon.
Whether you’re looking do to some shopping, eating, drinking, or pick up some local art for your home, Algiers Point is the perfect spot.
