If you’re looking for an exciting day of family fun, there’s nothing better than a trip to one of Louisiana’s beautiful nature centers. Louisiana’s natural beauty shines in each of these idyllic destinations. They’ll have you excited to see more of your surroundings all day long!
Located in New Orleans East, the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center includes 86 acres of preserved hardwood bottomland forest. Hurricane Katrina nearly destroyed the grounds of the Nature Center, but they have worked hard to rebuild and now visitors can enjoy lovely trails and nature-focused programs.

Across Lake Pontchartrain in Mandeville, you can find another fantastic option in the Northlake Nature Center.
Here you’ll find opportunities for biking, hiking, canoeing, clean-ups, and even roasting marshmallows by fire pits in the evening.
Interested in volunteering to preserve Northlake? The forest restoration project is ongoing and has hundreds of volunteers!
After Hurricane Katrina caused six feet of floodwater to damage the forest floor, invasive tree species took hold, so volunteers get together to remedy that issue while reintroducing native Louisiana species. Instill a lifelong love and respect for nature in the kids by showing them how to care for their environment!
They’ll get to see the fruits of their labors when happy birds take up residence in the trees!
Re-opening on April 1, 2022, Global Wildlife Center in Folsom is a haven for threatened and endangered animals will charm everyone in your family with its touching mission to preserve the natural habitat of animals who would otherwise be in trouble.
Here, the animals live freely, and you can take a safari ride and get up close and personal with them! The thrill of getting so close will be exciting to adventurous types and will get even the shy ones in your group out of their shells.
You’ll get to see animals that you normally only see in pictures, and you’ll certainly want to bring your phone or camera to ensure you get some photos of your own! It will be a magical experience for the little ones to see the animals from their books in person!
The adults will have a blast getting into a whole new environment and admiring the amazing inhabitants of the Wildlife Center.
