Start your camping trip at this amazing hidden Louisiana wonder, which features the tallest waterfall in Louisiana, Rock Falls, at 17ft. tall.
Continue to some of the highest bluffs within three hours of southern Louisiana. The Tunica Hills wildlife management area offers some of the most beautiful terrain in the state. Cross over the border to Mississippi for a pleasant day hike, or explore the miles of trails and camping in the Tunica Hills WMA area.
Make sure you take a stop at Cat Island, where you can catch the largest tree in the lower 48, east of the Sierra Nevadas, pictured here.
Consider spending the night at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, a beautiful and serene sight with all the amenities our great state parks have to offer.
Next up, the beloved Lake Martin outside of Lafayette, LA, home to a natural bird rookery that hosts birds from all around the world.

Finally, end or start your trip at the largest natural area in Louisiana. Campgrounds abound in this 8,700-acre wilderness that offers some of the most amazing rolling hills, bluffs and sandy, bottomland landscapes in Louisiana. The Dogwood Campground in the ranger district offers campsites for RV’s, trailers, tents and groups, as well as drinking water and fire pits.
