The Quirkiest Town In Louisiana That You’ll Absolutely Love
Small towns are the best. Everyone tends to know everybody, most of the businesses are locally owned and there’s usually an adorable Main Street that’ll capture your heart. Natchitoches embodies all of that—and more. Let’s take a look at this quirky town that you’ll absolutely love…
Established in 1714, Natchitoches is Louisiana’s oldest town.
It’s the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.
There’s always something to do here.
Natchitoches is a unique town full of history, culture, shopping, dining, and recreation.
The Historic District is a 33-block area thats filled with shopping, restaurants, and bed & breakfasts.
You can also check out the Steel Magnolia House, which has been practically untouched since the movie filmed there.
The town is also located on the beautiful Cane River, where you can sit back and relax and enjoy the view, or get out an enjoy the river.
The Cane River National Heritage Area will lead you around several Creole plantations and museums to learn about the history of this charming little town.
The Cane River is the backdrop for many of the town's festivals
Natchitoches puts on a spectacular Christmas Lights show on the Cane River, which everyone should really put on their bucket list. It's also a great place to sit back and watch the fireworks on the 4th of July.
There’s no shortage of places to stay in Natchitoches, as it’s known as the Bed and Breakfast Capital of Louisiana.
There's over 30 for you to choose from. You can stay in a Creole cottage, an antebellum-style home, or a cabin on the river. You’ve got options!
And like any small town does, Natchitoches has a great Main Street.
Front Street has plenty of shopping and restaurants for you to explore!
There's no shortage of good restaurants either.
But you really should stop by Lasyone's when you're in town. Their meat pies are delicious!

You won't regret it!
