More Than 50,000 People Attend The Yearly Delcambre Shrimp Festival In Louisiana And It’s Not Hard To See Why
Delcambre is a tiny town in both Iberia and Vermilion Parishes that’s home to less than 2,000 people, but it’s also home to one of the best festivals in Louisiana, the Delcambre Shrimp Festival. Delcambre is perfectly situated on Bayou Carlin (also known as the Delcambre canal) which gives boats access to the deeper fishing and shrimper waters found in Vermilion Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

You can purchase individual passes when you arrive.

Keep in mind the gates don’t open until 6:30 p.m. on the first three days of the festival (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday); however, Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 are both full-day events, and the gates will open at 9 a.m.

It quickly grew in popularity and has become one of the top 10 festivals in Louisiana, with proceeds going to more than just the fire department, but the entire community.

The tradition began in 1953 and continues every year! A local pastor will come and bless the boats prior to the festival, asking for the protection of the crew and a bountiful harvest.

Bring your lawn chairs and set up early for the best view!
