3 Amazing Road Trips Through the State of Louisiana

Ready to go for a drive this summer? Here are three full itineraries for Louisiana natives looking to explore new corners for their state. A great mix of natural wonders and urban treasures makes these trips a special treat. Laissez les bon temps roulez!

1) Starting in Sulphur, LA, pack a lunch and make your way down LA 27. Check out the beautiful natural wonders at the Sabine Natural Wildlife Refuge.

Or check out the Wetland Walkway.

Continue on LA 82 towards the Texas line to visit Holly Beach.

Stay west to check out The Peveto Bird & Butterfly Sanctuary

And finally end your day at the Sabine Pass Lighthouse, on the national register of historic places.

2) Start in Lafayette, with brunch at the Blue Dog Café.

Head south on 90 and visit downtown New Iberia, LA to visit the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Then head towards Avery Island, LA, where there is still a major Tabasco sauce factory. Check out their beautiful bird sanctuary and jungle gardens.

Finish that night camping at Cypremort State Park, on a peninsula in Vermillion bay.

3) Spend your day going from Shreveport, LA to Nachitoches, LA. Start with Breakfast at Marilynn’s Place.

Then take a look at the beautiful mural, Once in A Millennium Moon.

From there, hop onto I-49 South and you’ll pass the Largest Mailbox in Louisiana, built for the TV show Bayou Billionares.

Continue south and stop by the Natchitoches Alligator Park—where you can get reaaaally up close and personal with gators!

Then finish the day at the Riverwalk on Cane River in Nachitoches, LA.
