Located just a stone’s throw away from Lafayette, Lake Fausse Point State Park encompasses a massive 6,000 acres, making it one of the largest state parks in Louisiana.
Nestled right in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin, this state park features some truly stunning scenery.

And a lot of history. The surrounding area was once occupied by the Chitimacha Indians, then French and Acadian farmers, and then the Spanish in the middle 1700s.
There are plenty of ways to explore this beautiful state park, and the nature trails are just the start.

There are three trails: the Armadillo Ridge, the Cardinal Run, and the Barred Owl Trek.
All of the trails are under three miles in length and each one will take you through some of the most picturesque areas of the park.
