Louisiana is full of picturesque and calming waterways throughout the state, but there are some that rise above the rest for their sheer beauty. The Ouiska Chitto creek is one of those waterways. The go-to spot for Louisiana residents in the Vernon-Allen parish area. This creek has so much to offer:

The Ouiska Chitto creek, also known as Whiskey Chitto, is one of the most beautiful and pleasant waterways in Louisiana.

The creek begins near the boundary of Fort Polk, in Vernon parish, and continues for approximately 70 miles.

White sandy beaches with quartz sandbars and mixed pine-hardwood forest line the banks of this creek, which flows through portions of the Kisatchie National Forest.

Amazing wildlife can be seen from the water, including deer, turkeys, raccoons, and of course amazing birds, pictured here.

There's even been reports of blue crawfish in the area.

A number of canoe and tubing rental companies can be found at the Ouiska Chitto, promising gorgeous afternoons in the water with all of your friends and family.
