The Stunning Building In Louisiana That Looks Just Like Hogwarts

Whether you’re on team book or team movie (or both), the Harry Potter franchise is one of the most popular in modern history. Universal Orlando even built an entire amusement park where you can walk in the steps of the characters, pick out your own wand, and enjoy some Butterbeer. While we may not have anything quite like that here in Louisiana, that doesn’t mean that our imaginations can’t run wild when we think about some of the historic buildings and how they could be our own little Hogwarts in Louisiana.

There’s one, in particular, that we think would make a good candidate for the wizarding world, and it’s worthy of a visit. Let’s check it out:

It looks especially stunning against that sunset, right? You can easily make the connections to how this striking church could be our own little Hogwarts in Louisiana.

The land was donated by Jean Mouton in 1821, back when Lafayette was still called Vermilionville. The church is also home to the oldest cemetery in Lafayette, and you'll find it right next to the church.

Speaking of Vermilionville, while you're in the area you should absolutely check out Vermilionville, a living history museum that focuses on the day-to-day life of Acadians, some of the earliest settlers to this part of Louisiana.

The one that stands today is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

From the red brick to the detailed stained-glass windows, it's easy to imagine this unique building in Louisiana playing a part in a wizard's world, don't you think? Hogwarts Louisiana, anyone?

It's very reminiscent of the Great Hall from the movies. 10 points to Gryffindor! Although in a Louisiana Hogwarts, perhaps the houses would be more along the lines of Boudreau, Thibodeaux Leblanc, and Breaux!

We could easily see the Weasley's car getting stuck in those branches. In a Louisiana Hogwarts version, maybe the car is replaced with a Mardi Gras float!
