Breaux Bridge, Louisiana is a small, historic town that holds less than 10,000 people within town limits.
Back in 1771, Acadian pioneer Firmin Breaux purchased land from a wealthy man in New Orleans and founded what would eventually become known as Breaux Bridge.
It was this footbridge that ended up creating the nickname for the town, and eventually became a more stable bridge than the original one made of planks and rope.
