There’s a delightful animal sanctuary tucked away in West Feliciana Parish that not many people know about, but once you visit, you’ll fall in love. We’re talking about Barn Hill Preserve, a hand-on animal sanctuary that the whole family will love. Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, Barn Hill Preserve is currently closed to the public, but we still think it’s important to feature hidden gems like this one, so you’ll want to keep in mind for the end of summer or early fall! Let’s check it out.

Tucked away in the tiny town of Ethel, Barn Hill Preserve is a hidden gem that the entire family will enjoy.

Their guided tours will show you all around the beautiful property, and you’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with several of the resident animals.

You’ll see so many exotic animals during your visit.

Some you’ve probably seen before, but many, like this beautiful Eurasian Lynx, are a pretty rare sight.

They also have sloths! During their sloth encounters, you’ll get the chance to hold one of these beautiful creatures.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Have you ever wanted to swim with otters? At Barn Hill, you can schedule an otter swim and really get up close to these fun little fellas.

Throughout your entire tour, keep your eyes peeled for macaws flying overhead.

Barn Hill Preserve is home to dozens of macaws where they’re allowed to fly-free and roam about the property.

You’ll quickly fall in love with this hidden gem and find yourself coming back month after month to hang out with all their animal ambassadors.
