The Acadiana Park Nature Station is an education and research facility located in the northwestern part of Lafayette. The Nature Station was established in 1978, focusing on educational workshops and field trips for kids and adults.
When you arrive, be sure to pop into the nature station. Kids will love the educations exhibits and displays throughout the facility.
Then, hit the trails. The Acadiana Park Nature Station has roughly six miles of trails to explore.
From boardwalk to gravel, these trails will lead you through the 150-acre park. This natural oasis is the perfect way to spend an afternoon with the family.
Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. The park is home to countless wildlife, and if you know where to look, you’re sure to spot something.
Since the nature park is nestled along the Dan Deballion Canal, it’s a great place to launch your canoe and take to the water to explore the area from an entirely different perspective.
The nature park offers several guides trail tours, including a night hike which is offered on the last Saturday of every month. After watching a brief slide show about the nocturnal wildlife in the area, you’ll take to the trails to see the nature park come alive at night.
The trails are open every day from dawn until dusk.
You can find the Acadiana Park Nature Station at 1205 E Alexander St., Lafayette, Louisiana 70501.
