In an area of Kentucky that is well known for the popular Mammoth Caves, you’ll find an underrated spot that is a little slice of heaven on a summer day. Nolin Lake within Nolin Lake State Park in Edmonson County is an oasis from the travelers visiting the nearby attractions and provides its own sense of adventure and escape.
Nolin Lake State Park opened to the public in 2001 and the main feature is its stunning 5,795-acre lake that winds through the park. The 333-acre park is located along the northern edge of Mammoth Cave National Park in Edmonson County. It provides endless adventure and a little something for everyone.
One of the main attractions of the lake is the public beach. This sandy swimming hole is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and recently extended its hours to 9am - 7pm, daily. So there's no excuse to not spend some time with your toes in the sand this summer.
Nolin Lake recently hosted an event - the Summer Splash & Houseboat Hop - so the lake was busy with activity. But even on any given day, you never know what you may see. The lake is perfect for boaters, with a ramp located within the park, as well as several others in the area.
Nolin Lake State Park is also one of the few places throughout Kentucky that you can tent camp right on the lake. The views are remarkable. The park also has RV sites available with water and electric.
