For whatever reason, sandwiches are one of those simple dishes that taste exponentially better when someone else prepares them for you. Especially when that “someone else” is a skilled hand at Stella’s Kentucky Deli. This humble deli in Lexington, Kentucky, is known far and wide for delicious and crave-worthy sandwiches, which are, in our opinion, one of life’s greatest simple pleasures.
Why is it that when someone else makes you a sandwich, it tastes so much better? Even a sandwich as a simple BLT or PB&J... it just hits different when someone prepared by someone else.
Stella's is the kind of place where the specials are written in colorful chalk and you never know quite what will be on the menu... but you can rest assured it's going to be great!
A popular brunch spot in Kentucky, Stella's Benedict Special is definitely worth waking up early for. It features grilled kale, two fried green tomatoes, two perfectly poached eggs, and a basil hollandaise served on French bread.

Stella's Kentucky Deli also puts together a killer burger. The restaurant is known for its epic contributions to Kentucky Burger Week, from its classic Divine Swine Burger and spicy El Fuego Burger to a Hot Brown Burger available in both meat and vegetarian varieties.
The real star at Stella's, however, are the namesake deli sandwiches. As with all of the items on the menu, Stella's sources #Kentuckyproud ingredients whenever possible, and you really can taste the difference.
The Fried Green Tomato BLT is a celebration of summer's bounty of the Bluegrass, served with a herbaceous basil mayo that's ridiculously good. You also can't go wrong with a classic club sandwich or grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Yum!
