You Can Watch Planes Land At This Underrated Park In Kentucky

If you’ve ever found yourself in Northern Kentucky near CVG Airport, with some time to kill, perhaps you’ve stumbled across the viewing area down the road from the entrance. This spot is popular with local workers, looking for a relaxing lunch break, but it’s recently received a face lift and is now a unique, charming park where you can get the best views of airplanes in the state.

Marked only by a small blue sign, and somewhat hidden atop a hill, the CVG Viewing Area is a hidden gem in the Northern Kentucky area.
While many have know for years that this is the prime spot for watching the endless number of planes coming and going from this busy airport, some are just discovering it for the first time.
Recently, the area was refurbished to make the viewing experience even more optimal.

The parking lot was repaved, new portable restrooms were added, along with plenty of trash cans and picnic tables. A small playground was also added, making the younger plane fans happier than ever.
The park has sweeping views of the airport and allows you to see several runways.

You can easily see planes taking off and landing. And although you may not be able to tell from the photos, you really are as close as possible to the aircraft and can hear and feel the power when they hit the runway.
The airport has added a few features to make viewing more enjoyable.

There are graphics describing the different types of planes, as well as tips for times to stop by to see the most action.
The new playground is also a big hit.

The plane-themed equipment provides just enough entertainment for little ones, in between the arrival and departure of the airplanes. The park is fully fenced and has plenty of seating around it - ideal for a picnic lunch of plane watching.
The CVG Viewing Area is a hidden spot in Northern Kentucky that is perfect for filling time while traveling or simply relaxing.
