This Overnight Ghost Hunt In Kentucky Is The Creepiest Thing You’ll Ever Do

Surely you know of Kentucky’s most haunted place – Waverly Hills Sanatorium. You may even know that you can take a tour of this former hospital and that it is infamous for being one of the most haunted places in the entire country. But you may not know that not only can you go on an overnight ghost hunt at this epically creepy building, but you can spend the night in another structure on the property that’s just as bone-chilling.
Waverly Hills Sanatorium opened in 1910 as a much needed tuberculosis hospital.
This eye-catching building continued to grow over the years to accommodate more patients. Louisville was home to a large number of tuberculosis patients and Waverly was the city's answer to the epidemic.
Today, as one of the most haunted places in the country, visitors flock to this historic site to hunt down the ghosts that refuse to move on from the Sanatorium.
Recently, a new feature and opportunity was added to the overnight private tours. As the tour typically ends in the middle of the night, guests can now retire to the former Pump House, located on the grounds. As you can see from the photos above, the small house has been renovated, but a part of the original facade remains. And given its location near the infamous body chute, you may even have a few unwelcome (or welcome?) visitors while you sleep.
When you tour Waverly Hills at night you can choose from either a public or private tour.
There are many more details available on their website, linked below, but on both types of tours you will get to spend time throughout the various areas of the building. Only the private tours can choose to spend the night in the Pump House, however. While the Sanatorium has undergone many renovations, many original things still remain, apparently along with the spirits of those who never came out alive.
To spend the night at Waverly Hills Sanatorium you should either be fascinated by ghost hunting or think it's all a bunch of rubbish.
Because many of those who do tour these abandoned hallways and rooms do report sights, sounds, and feelings of a ghostly presence. Tours run from March - August, but they start booking for 2018 on January 1st. It's highly recommended that you plan as early as possible for your visit - especially if you wish to do a private tour. And you might as well because where else can you chase ghosts and spend the night in one of the country's most haunted destinations?
Waverly Hills Sanatorium also hosts a haunted house that runs Friday and Saturday nights through October 28th.
