The railroad system is a large part of Kentucky’s rich history, which may explain our state’s fascination with this nostalgic mode of transportation. The station has been restored and transformed into the perfect setting to view this impressive collection of historic model trains. The museum is owned and operated by a local couple who share a passion for collecting this valuable piece of history and who love sharing it with visitors.
Inside the museum, you'll find many rare and antique toy trains from makers like Lionel, American Flyer and many others.
The owners have spent the past 40 years building their collection and they are graciously sharing it with those who find trains just as nostalgic and fascinating. A few of the rare finds in the collection include a pastel Lionel train, an antique Disney train and many pre-war antiques.
The museum includes many of these trains and other antique toys on display but also has an operational authentic Lionel Dealers Display that was made especially by Lionel in the 1950's for a store front in downtown Lexington.
Viewing this display and every other nook and cranny of this museum will have you feeling like a child again. The museum is open Wednesday - Saturday 10am to 5pm and if you have any questions, feel free to give them a call at 859-873-2497.
