Louisville is an amazing city across the board, but for those who are thinking about moving here, it might be difficult to discern what neighborhood is right for you. Check out our list below to discover some of the best neighborhoods in Louisville to live in.
1. Old Louisville
The Old Louisville neighborhood has an interesting intermingling of people, as these grand Victorian era style homes are either owned and lived in by one family, or, more frequently, split up by landlords into affordable housing for students. This neighborhood is the largest Victorian Preservation District in the United States.
2. The Highlands
This is a wonderful neighborhood to live in due to the proximity to local shops, bars, and restaurants.
3. Crescent Hill
Pictured above is the Louisville Water Company Crescent Hill Reservoir, a landmark attraction in this neighborhood. The Crescent Hill neighborhood is quiet on the off-streets, but Frankfort Avenue is filled with many fun boutiques and restaurants to enjoy in your free time.
4. Phoenix Hill
This neighborhood is getting busier with NuLu filling with new restaurants and businesses. The houses here are mainly brick, shotgun-style homes.
Germantown has a number of popular bars and restaurants, and yet housing in this neighborhood is surprisingly inexpensive. Germantown is also filled with a high amount of shotgun houses.
Close to the River, East end, and downtown, Butchertown is a neighborhood that has it all. Pictured above is a historic facade of a building located in Butchertown, called the Heigold House Facade. The Waterfront Botanical Gardens are being built in this neighborhood very close to the landmark.
7. Deer Park
Deer Park is a beautiful and quiet neighborhood close to many shops near the Highlands.
There are many local restaurants, shops, and boutiques on Frankfort Avenue to explore in the Clifton neighborhood.
9. Cherokee Triangle
Close to Cherokee Park and the businesses on Bardstown Road, Cherokee Triangle is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Louisville.
Belknap is another great neighborhood for families. Every year the Belknap Fall Festival occurs, filling the neighborhood with music, games, and more.
