If you’re looking for a place to stay overnight in Kentucky, there are so many more options than just hotels. Why not try something a little more unique, like staying in a former jail that may or may not be haunted? The Jailer’s Inn Bed and Breakfast in Bardstown is located in a historic building that used to be the Nelson County Jail. Bits of the history still remain, and they even have a room that still resembles a jail cell. It’s also been reported that things go bump in the night at the Jailer’s Inn. Welcome to the Jailer's Inn Bed and Breakfast in Bardstown, KY.
They have seven rooms, including the Library Room (pictured above), the Victorian Room, the Colonial Room, The Garden Room, the 1819 Room, the Family Suite, and the Jail Cell, which is also known as the Fun Room. It is the only room that still resembles a jail cell, and even has two of the original bunks and waterbed.
The back jail remains mostly the way it was during its former life. It was built in 1874.
You'll get a glimpse into what life was like for the prisoners. Items like these hand-written notes and poems by some of the former inmates are on display.
