Hensley Settlement, located atop Brush Mountain, is a great place to start where you can go back in time and experience life as it was for settlers in the Gap. The Hensley Settlement was established in 1903 by Sherman Hensley and was occupied until 1951. The historic buildings remain and can be visited through a guided tour, which run late May through October.
Aside from the historical relevance and beauty of its past, Cumberland Gap is known for sweeping views and diverse landscape.

There are many overlooks where you can observe the rolling mountains, lush valleys and open skies. When you visit, make sure and stop at the Visitor's Center just outside of Middlesboro to learn all about the park and find out which overlooks and trails are best for you.
