Back for its 34th year, this annual event is a favorite of those in The Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, but everyone will enjoy a visit to this unforgettable Christmas block party in Kentucky.

Our largest city is filled with unique and historic neighborhoods and one that is definitely a must-visit during your time in the area is The Highlands.
Centered around Bardstown Road, this neighborhood offers local shops, restaurants, parks, and so much character and history that you could spend days exploring it all.
And each year to celebrate the holidays, the Highland Commerce Guild hosts Bardstown Road Aglow, a Christmas block party in Kentucky.
This map shows the neighborhood and the wide variety of places along this section of Bardstown Road. Several business along this stretch of road participate in this festive event when you can shop, eat, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.
The charming local businesses go all out with window decorations and some offer specials during the event and have extended hours.
This year's event takes place on December 7th from dusk to 10 p.m., so mark your calendar now! The event kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with the lighting of the Highlands Holiday Tree at Wendy’s (corner of Grinstead Drive and Bardstown Road).
All ages are welcome to attend the event, but adults will especially enjoy the atmosphere and opportunity for a fun night out.
Catch up with friends to explore this unique street and neighborhood, all under the glow of twinkling lights. Also, be sure to stop by Park Community Credit Union’s famous Polar Palooza (corner of Bardstown Road and Baringer Avenue). This portion of the event returns from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and attendees can enjoy face painting, live music, and Letters to Santa, as well as selfies with Santa and Parkie the Dog too!
Since the event stretches up and down this lengthy road, as well as other adjacent roads, you may need a break from walking.
Hop on the festive trolley and just hop off when you reach a spot that you'd like to check out. This family-friendly event will take place along Bardstown Road, Douglas Loop, Baxter Avenue, and now Barret Avenue, as well.
For a unique way to experience the evening, consider renting with The Thirsty Pedaler, that is, after Santa enjoys his ride on it from the tree lighting to the Polar Palooza.
