Kentucky's "Niagara of the South" is beautiful any time of the year, but it's particularly stunning in spring. So you know the old joke about how to pronounce the capitol of Kentucky? Well, hopefully by now you know that Kentucky's capitol is Frankfort (not Louisville), but you may not realize that the city is also home to the stunning state capitol building. It was built in 1904 and has undergone many renovations, but today you can take a walking tour or even just observe from outside. It's especially beautiful in the spring with elaborate and colorful landscaping.

The Kentucky dam creates the largest manmade lake in the Eastern United States - Kentucky Lake. The lake is great for recreation all year, but it's perfect in the spring. The lake hosts several events, along with boating, fishing and simply relaxing. Be sure to catch one of the famous sunsets, arguably the best in the state.
