Winter is a stunning time for Overland Park Arboretum, from the frozen icy waterfall to the snow covered trees and bushes lining your path. It's a beautiful time, but what about holiday cheer?

The sun sets and the lights go on, bringing a whole new illumination to the garden for a short time each year.

Though there are more than 1,700 species of plants here, this botanical garden and arboretum is alight with more color than foliage for a while in the winter.

Most notable is the large tree absolutely covered like a blanket in lights, each branch like a sweater made of several yarns.

Visitors of all ages can frolic through the light show, and all ages can find their holiday cheer through a beautiful light display. There's just something about twinkling lights we can't get enough of!

The Luminary Walk usually starts in December, and is held for a few select nights before Christmas.

The arboretum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the week, and is free to visit for Friends of the Arboretum members.
