9 Unsuspecting Restaurants In Kansas With Food So Good It Should Be Illegal
It’s restaurant time again! We’ve been on the hunt for homely restaurants with food so delicious it should be illegal (or at least monitored!) Despite the less-than-stunning exteriors of these eateries, the food is more than good enough to make up for that. These 9 restaurants were picked from your comments and suggestions for good places to eat that we’ve missed so far! Do you see yours here?
1. Backstreet Bakery - 208 S Main St Lucas, Kansas
What seems to just be a doorway without much decor hinting to a restaurant, becomes a wonderful bakery, restaurant and lounge once you enter. They've got fantastic dinners, and everyone needs to try their gooey rolls.
2. Bunker Hill Cafe - 6th & Elm St Bunker Hill, Kansas
A derelict building sits alone on a corner, but what's that? A restaurant? With plates full of delicious food served on lettuce, this is a great spot to eat. They opened in 1974 and have been serving ever since.
3. Elroy's Pizza - 115 S Main St. Stafford, Kansas
Delicious pizza in Lawrence can't be terribly hard to find, but Elroy's really stands out with their giant topping list, and their loyal customers. Step in for a slice of heaven!
4. Guy & Mae's Tavern - 119 W William St. Williamsburg, Kansas
Boy oh boy am I a barbecue fan, and all I hear these days is whether I've had it here yet. It's a hidden gold mine for kansas barbecue, and their ribs are praised as far as the eye can see. (In Kansas, that's pretty far!)
5. Harry's Cafe - 412 N Broadway St. Pittsburg, Kansas
If you're more of a breakfast fan, there's this little hole in the wall called Harry's Cafe that is just waiting for you to try their gravy. Breakfast in general is sacred to me, so I'm serious when I say this place is good. I'd recommend their buttery cinnamon rolls!
6. Josie's Ristorante - 400 N Main St. Scammon, Kansa
Italian, Italian, Italian. There seems to be so many burger joints, but where's the love for my favorite food group, pasta? Here at Josie's they're serving sauce for days.
7. The Feedbunk - 112 W Rutledge St. Yates Center, Kansas
I've never been to Yates Center, but The Feedbunk looks like a place I'd gladly enjoy some home style eating.
8. Three One One - 311 North Spruce St. Abilene, Kansas
Tacos. Burgers. Ribs. Those three words are enough to get me running to the source, and in this case it's Three One One.
9. West Coast Saloon - 2222 Iowa St. Lawrence, Kansas
Best burgers in town? Lawrence has a lot of burger places for it's size, and West Coast Saloon isn't kidding when it says they're fantastic. Maybe it doesn't look too hot right now, but you're here for food, not fancy decor, right?
Well, what do you think of these restaurants? While none are pretty on the outside, the product they provide is definitely worth the trip. If you haven’t yet, check out our list of
