The Little Town In Kansas That Might Just Be The Most Unique Town In The World
There is no denying that Kansas is home to some of the most unique towns in America. From small towns that make you think you have left the country to towns with an assortment of home-cooked diners, there is truly something for everyone to love in the Sunflower State. However, this small Kansas town in particular may just be the most unique place in not only the state, but the entire world:
Designated the "Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas" by Governor Bill Graves in 1996, the town of Lucas is home to more than 400 residents and some of the quirkiest and most memorable attractions you will ever see.
Quite possibly one of the most iconic attractions in this small community is that of the Garden of Eden; a 12-room cabin adorned with 200 concrete sculptures depicting turn-of-the-century religion and politics.
In addition to the famous Garden of Eden, Lucas is also home to a variety of other quirky and memorable gems, including the Bowl Plaza...
Have you ever seen such a fabulous facility? Most haven't, which is why it was voted the Number 2 Best Restroom in the Country! (Ha, number 2... see what I did there?)
...World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Versions of the World's Largest Things...
It is LITERALLY a large collection of small things that are typically larger but were made smaller for this museum... any questions?
...and one-of-a-kind Grassroots Art Center.
Current exhibits at Grassroots include the works of Paul Boyer, Millard Harrell, and Florence Deeble.
As if these attractions weren't epic enough, Lucas is also home to the annual Adam's Apple Festival...
Your eyes do not deceive you; pictured is in fact some old school Highland Games.
...and fun, fabulous, and friendly folks who will always welcome you with open arms.
(Remember in the intro when I mentioned small towns with delicious home-cooked diners? Lucas has the pictured Backstreet Bakery, K-18 Cafe, and Simple Haven Bed and Breakfast!)
It is for these reasons and more that we consider Lucas to be one of the most unique towns in the world… wouldn’t you agree?
