Welcome to a beautiful corner of Kansas named Rosedale Park. Though many of its visitors are here for normal park enjoyment, have you ever heard of their disc golf course?
Disc golf is a frisbee sport where you throw a disc into a chained basket that captures the flying object, similar to how a cup in the ground captures a golf ball in golf. The fewer throws you need to get it in the basket, the better you've scored!
Though the park was built in the 80s, it went relatively unknown until the disc golf baskets were installed. Here at this park, there are two different courses to enjoy, called Up Top and Down Under, according to their relative locations.
The Up Top course winds along the edge of a bluff, making throws a little bit of a challenge. Usually, that challenge is the wind we deal with daily anyways, but frisbees are tricky to toss through it nevertheless.
Next up, the Down Under course was designed in 1997, and it winds through wooded areas that are sometimes just as tricky to throw through as the bluff paths. It's a great place to practice those tricky throws through the trees, though!
Disc golf isn't a sport that everyone has heard of, but It's a fun activity for all ages, which makes it perfect for road trips with the family. Even if you're just in KC for business, who is to say that a quick stop at the park isn't a good way to enjoy the outdoors more?
