13 Things A True Kansan Can Honestly Say They’ve Never Done
During your travels around the state, you’ll encounter plenty of people that fit the “Kansan” persona and plenty of people that don’t. There’s not much to say about true Kansans, besides the fact that we’re uncomfortably nice, and we love our beautiful state. We figured out a list of things a true Kansan would
never do, no matter what you paid them. Here are a few things most of us won’t be guilty of.
1. Ignored someone in need.
A true Kansan has never ignored someone that is really in need of some TLC or even something as simple as directions. If we don't know, we'll at least point you to someone who might.
2. Not offering food to a guest.
I can't believe that people in other places will entertain guests and not even offer them something to drink. How dare they!
3. Being rude to someone they've just met.
There's no reason to be rude when you first meet someone. I've met people who get in car wrecks and are nice to each other no matter whose fault it was.
4. Cheered for Mizzou.
Yeah, we know they're not competing against us anymore, but we're still going to hold resentment for a while.
5. Hated how flat our state is.
It's flat in some places and hilly in others. How can you be a true Kansan and not like Kansas?
6. Ignored a Kansas sunset.
Simply speaking, Kansas sunsets are a gift to anyone that has the chance to see them. Maybe it's Kansas' way of apologizing for the weather?
7. Refused to defend Kansas against those that call us boring.
Kansas is only boring when you drive along I-70 and never explore anything. If that were all you needed to be boring, then most U.S. states would fit the bill too!
8. Spoke bad about a farmer.
There's absolutely no reason you should be anything but thankful for all the hard work these people do.
9. Forgot a hair tie when you're going to be outside.
The best you can do at this point is try to braid it and look for some string. Save what you can!
10. Complained about our style of cooking.
You might not like fried foods or gravy, but if you haven't found a favorite Kansas meal yet, maybe Kansas isn't for you?
11. Enjoyed a "you're not in Kansas anymore" joke when you travel.
Come on, at least give them an eye roll.
12. Not bring anything to a potluck.
There's nothing worse than showing up empty-handed to a potluck. It doesn't matter if you only bring chips, at least it's something!
13. Expect the forecast to go as planned.
You'll notice that everything we plan has a rain date attached to it, and it's for good reason.
