We’ve got several great larger cities in the Sunflower State, but the small towns in Kansas are what make our state truly great. There are some super-tiny towns scattered throughout the state that only have a population of a few hundred, but today we’re featuring one that’s a little bit larger. The city of Fort Scott is right along the state line with Missouri, about 90 miles south of Kansas City. With a population of around 7,500, there are so many things to do in Fort Scott, Kansas, from historic architecture to charming boutique shops to delicious restaurants and beautiful natural surroundings.
Fort Scott was built around the military fort that shares its name. Today, Fort Scott National Historic Site is a great spot to learn about the history of the area.
