Handmade Piece By Piece, Isaac Shue Ceramics Makes One-Of-A-Kind Kansas Creations
Do you like to shop small businesses in Kansas? If you’ve been on the hunt for one-of-a-kind ceramics in all shapes and sizes, you’ve come to the right guy. These stunning pieces could light up your whole room, if given the proper place. Come see what one man’s hands and a bit of heat can accomplish.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
A shop out in the middle of rural Kansas, by a small town named Harper, is where he does his best work. Having somewhere relaxing is key to these one-of-a-kind ceramics.
Isaac Shue has plenty of ties to places across the world, but chooses the small town of Harper and our state of Kansas to be close to family and build one of his own.
I remember going to school in the area, seeing him show up in my art class to throw giant vases, pots, and bowls on the pottery wheel. Little did I know that he'd soon start making them in every shape and color he could think of!
It's amazing what two steady hands and hard work can make sometimes. Vases that look like a ring of trees, mugs with little symbols from the towns we love, and plenty more colorful pieces come out of his kiln year round.
A popular time for the shop happens every fall, when pumpkins of all sorts of shapes and colors fly out of here almost faster than he can make them. If this is an adult pumpkin patch, I'm in! They come in all sizes, of course.
Then again, I think we'd all do great creative work if we had a studio surrounded by plenty of wide open Kansas landscape. Looking at these colors and patterns, I'd have to agree.
If you'd like to check out his wares, you'll have to shop during one of his releases. He likes to make a good amount before he launches a sale date, so make sure to follow his Facebook page for dates and times.
If there’s anything in the shop, you’ll find it at his website. For keeping up on his social media for creations or life updates, check out the Isaac Shue “is art” Facebook page.
There’s a lot around that we might not know about. If you know of somewhere that deserves a spotlight, let us know at our Nomination Page and we’ll take alook.
