There’s A Law In Kansas That Restricts You From Heating Up Your Car In Winter

Are you the type of person to turn on your car before heading back inside to warm up yourself? Well, that might need to change. Throughout America, most cities and towns do have a law that prevents you from heating up your car before work unattended. If you live in Kansas, you might want to check your local laws as this applies to many of our cities even though our state doesn’t seem to have an official law yet.

If you find yourself at the receiving end of a ticket this winter, you'll have more than a cold morning drive on your hands.

Cities like Wichita, Kansas City, Overland Park, and more have specific laws that prevent you from heating up your car in the mornings and leaving it to run.

These laws are usually called "idle free" laws, and not only lower risk of theft, but air pollution that builds up due to longer vehicle run times. You might not think that your bit matters, but every car adds up quickly.

Just to clarify, these laws refer to people who leave their vehicles unattended, not the ones who are nearby scraping the driveway or windshield.

Fines can stack up for repeat offenders, and end up costing more than you can afford to lose. What might be a smaller fine in the beginning can be a big problem if you're caught more than once.

We know the days get cold and a warm car is always nicer for your drive, but you've got to stick next to the car if you want to keep it running in place.

It's also good to note that most newer cars don't need to warm up their engines, and it actually does more damage than it helps. We just want to help the environment and keep your cars from being taken.
