9 Underrated Sandwiches In Kansas That Deserve A Second Bite
There’s something about these sandwiches that makes you forget all about those big chain restaurants you’ve been eating at. One word: flavor! These smaller eateries care about their customers and their menus on a personal level. So, with that in mind, these underrated sandwiches are worth a try, if you’re in the neighborhood. Let’s eat!
1. Noffy's Sandwich Shop & Pub - 210 N Main St., McPherson, KS
This delicious sub and more are all made at Noffy's, a shop and pub in McPherson that's a must-try for anyone who loves sandwiches and subs.
2. Angelo's Deli & Market - 9057 US-160, Columbus, KS
If you've ever driven through Columbus without stopping, you've missed out on a great sandwich. Some say it's the best salami sandwich in all of Kansas. What do you think?
3. The Grinder Man - 510 E Pawnee St., Wichita, KS
The Grinder Man is a favorite of mine anytime I come through Wichita, and one bit will tell you why. They really put care into each order, and you're sure to enjoy every bite. Don't forget the deviled eggs!
4. The Chubby Pickle - 603 State St., Phillipsburg, KS
The Chubby Pickle sounds like an odd place, but let me assure you that the sandwiches here are great. They've been around since 1991 making chubby sandwiches of all kinds.
5. Professor's - 521 E 11th St., Hays, KS
Professor's is a unique restaurant that not only makes amazing sandwiches, but serves fresh soup alongside them. They also grow mushrooms in-house and sell honey from their beehives. Looks like you're getting a lot more than a sandwich if you stop here!
6. The Golden Griddle Diner - 230 W 9th St., Hays, KS
The Golden Griddle is a tasty brunch restaurant, but don't forget that they serve sandwiches as well. Hot beef sandwiches are a Kansas favorite, and we think you should never skip a chance to try GG's version.
7. City Bites - 3570 N Woodlawn St., Wichita, KS
City Bites is a great place in Wichita to stop for a sandwich that isn't Subway or some other sandwich chain. These underrated sandwiches are a good contender for your new favorite, and you'll find new flavors to explore every time you stop by.
8. Do-B's - 704 E 12th Ave., Emporia, KS
Do-B's is not only home to some monster cheeseburgers, but also a "franken-philly" that's definitely not from this world. In a good way!
9. Yello Sub - 814 W 23rd St., Lawrence, KS
Yello Sub might make you think of the Beatles song, but the flavors here aren't from 1966. You'll find out that a good bread and great fillings is all you need for an excellent lunch- one bite at a time.
