9 Amazing Natural Wonders Hiding In Plain Sight In Kansas — No Hiking Required
Many Kansans have an insatiable love for the outdoors, but some (like me) can’t always rely on hiking as a way to find amazing natural wonders. These spots are right in plain sight, which makes them perfect for anyone who doesn’t get excited about a hike.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

I'm sure we're all familiar with this special place by now, but it's still a fantastic spot to stop by if you don't like to hike your way through life. I know my knees don't, that's for sure.

Experience some of the odder things in the Sunflower State right here at this tiny state park with mushroom-shaped rocks that are just a little, well, strange. You're in Kansas, though, so anything can happen!

The Flint Hills are a must-see for all Kansans, and there's plenty of routes to drive through this gorgeous section of Kansas scenery. Sunsets are even better!

The Gyp Hills are red and rocky, but you don't have to worry about twisting your ankle on stones if you take the scenic byway route through them!

There's one spot in Kansas called the four-state lookout, where you can possibly see the corners of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa all in one place. Theoretically, of course. What isn't theoretical, however, is the amazing view you'll get whether it's all Kansas or not.

This scenic byway is all about preserving natural prairie and the lands that were here when settlers first arrived. A drive through here will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Wilson lake, in some spots, feels like it's from another world with it's scraggy bushes and rock formations. Has anyone lost a lake? Looks like it ended up here!
9. Bourbon State Fishing Lake (Elsmore)
Kansas has quite a few great waterfalls, but this one is particularly loud and showy, which makes it a great one for the family. It’s also at a fishing lake, so why not catch some cats while you’re at it?
With all this natural beauty, it’s confusing to hear people call us a flyover state! For more gorgeous places to visit right here in the Sunflower State, check out this list of Spring must-see spots.
