Welcome to Trail Days Cafe & Museum, a cafe in historic Council Grove that strives to feed both mind and body.
The Rawlinson-Terwilliger Home, built along the Santa Fe trail in 1861, still mostly stands as part of today's structure. Though there have been expansions and renovations, they strive to keep the building as authentic as possible. Though it does help to fill it with photos and stories from historic figures.
The decor is antique, but in a way that makes you feel like you're dining at great-grandma's house, and everything feels just like home. Beautiful tablecloths, great smells from the kitchen, and family around you.
What isn't from the 1800s however, is their amazing food. Most meals here consist of country style comfort food options that you'd see at home or in your favorite local restaurant.
Some of their meals however, accompany the history retelling of the month, and reflect some of the cooking styles and food items those people would have eaten, like Volga-German foods or bison meat.
