While there’s plenty to do here in the Sunflower state, you can’t just keep waiting for the State Fair or visiting Cowtown in Wichita (or Dodge City.) Here’s a list of our top nine epic things to do in Kansas that you might not think of.
1. You could
gaze at some of Kansas' waterfalls
Hey, when I say we've got waterfalls, I might not mean the huge ones there are in other states, but in a lot of ways ours are better. I'd much rather listen to a small trickle or calm whoosh than a deafening roar.
2. Explore a
Take tours of our castles! We've got castles old and new, grand and small. Why not pick one and set sail?
Or even dine in one!
You can dine in this castle, and for that simple reason, why wouldn't you? They've got good food at Renee Kelly's. 12401 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66216
Feel enchanted by a fairytale garden
Botanica in Wichita is a fabulous place to take a loved one on a date, or to take the kids for a nature adventure! It's gorgeous everywhere you look, and they have events to suit every need.
5. Or dine next to a runway!
I mean, with food like this plus a view like that, there's no reason why this place isn't epic! They're at 14789 SW 30th St, Benton, KS
6. Fly through the sky by the seat of your pants
Who doesn't want to get a little wild sometimes? With the safety of a harness, of course. Why not learn to fly today? Catch some air at 375 Johnson Rd, Manhattan, KS.
7. Or get a "food baby" at
one of our many food festivals!
Seriously, from the Chili Cookoff in Wichita to the numerous other BBQ festivals in Kansas, there's no reason not to pig out a little at one of these festivals.
Take a day trip by train
Dinner trains? Day trips? Just taking a ride? We've got trains for all your needs here, promise. We've even got Thomas!
9. Or have a mini-adventure
in a tunnel of trees!
I really love tree tunnels, and this one's just so cozy, you have to visit. Great plains nature center in Wichita is where it's at!
There’s so much to do in Kansas, we can’t fit all of them in one list! So, to help out,
