Kansas’ Charming Town Of WaKeeney Looks Like A Gingerbread Village Come To Life
It’s one thing to cozy up inside your house and make a gingerbread house on your living room table, but it’s a whole other thing to walk through a town and actually feel like you’re in a gingerbread village. This small town in Kansas decks the halls every year with beautiful light displays that would make even the Grinch smile, and you’ll want to drive through it this December!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Today, it still holds true to that festive nickname.

Each year, the town has a Christmas Tree Lighting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Santa is known to visit the town early during this time as well!

With 3 miles of electrical wiring and an entire business district area outlined with 3,000 perimeter lights, WaKeeney has certainly made a name for itself as being the most extravagant and largest light display in the area.

The area surrounding the grand Christmas tree is decorated with fresh greenery, handcrafted wreaths, bows, bells, and of course, more lights

The Christmas light displays are turned on every evening starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving all the way through New Year's.
Have you been to WaKeeney before to see their fabulous Christmas light display? If so, what did you think? We’d love to hear about your memories there in the comments!
