Biscuits. A staple of Kansas meals everywhere (especially breakfast!), biscuits are best when homemade, but there's not many places open still that make them that way. This place has been open since 1989, and every day they've been dedicated to their customers.
In the small town of Arlington, Kansas, there's a cafe named Carolyn's Essenhaus that serves traditional German food, and also some great homemade biscuits.
Have I talked about breakfast enough yet? Anyways, this is my go-to stop in Arlington, and you'll soon see why it's worth a stop whenever you come through.
Everything that can be homemade, is homemade here at Carolyn's. Pictured above is their homemade verenike. The most important thing they make, that everyone loves? Can you guess it?
You already know it's biscuits. I'm a lover of breakfast for sure, and homemade biscuits and gravy is a soft spot I have. The more biscuits, the better. Honestly, it's the best way to warm up in the morning, and a great excuse to have breakfast for dinner as well.
I know this isn't biscuit-related, but there's also another fantastic reason to stop by. If you can't tell by the photo, it's their pies. They've got so many pies you can't ever seem to choose just one! But be careful, they run out quick! (Hint: order ahead of time!)
Born and raised Kansan, Clarisa has lived in both tiny towns and cities during her time here in the Sunflower State, mostly in the south central area. Clarisa is a stay-at-home mother of one crazy kid, two cats, and two geckos, and has been writing anything and everything since she's held a pencil, though Kansas and fantasy novels take up most of her time.
