5 Fun-Filled Zoos In Kansas That Will Bring Out Your Wild Side
When we were kids, a trip to the zoo was a special event we never wanted to miss. Whether that was a local zoo or one you had to travel hours for, zoos will always hold a special place in our hearts. These five zoos in Kansas are a fun treat for the whole family, and you won’t want to miss a single one this summer. Let’s have a roaring good time!

Sunset Zoo, located in Manhattan, is open fro 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Here, you'll find over 250 animals, from anteaters to zebu. Free-roaming peacocks and plenty of family fun means I'm in!


The Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and you'll find that the cats here are playful as ever. They host multiple events throughout the year, so keep checking in to see when they have something special happening.


Known by some as the Emporia Zoo, this one is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is free to enter, but does accept donations. There's lots of fun to be had here, and the lemurs are definitely the life of the party. Just look at them painting!


The Hutchinson Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. They have a wonderful area for children to interact with animals, and they have a wide variety here to educate and entertain visitors. Everything from bison to otters and black footed ferrets, you'll find right here.


The Great Bend zoo is free, and open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Not only do they have animals large and small, but they also host plenty of special events and education opportunities for those of you that want something more than a walk through the zoo. It's a walk on the wild side!
