This Just Might Be The Most Beautiful Hike In All Of Kansas
Hikes in Kansas maybe gorgeous, but do you want to know what is even MORE amazing? Hiking in Kansas during the fall! Now that the unbearable heat and humidity is making its grand exit, it is time to get out and enjoy the changing colors and crisp air by taking what is quite possibly the most beautiful hike in all of Kansas:
Tucked away in the native tallgrass prairie that is the Flint Hills, the 8,616 acre Konza Prairie may not seem like it would be anything special, but it truly is one of the gems of the Sunflower State.
While there are several designated places within the prairie to hike, our favorite has to be the Natural Trail Loop; a 2.7-mile trail that takes you past some of the state's most iconic features, such as native shrubs...
...and wide open spaces as far as the eye can see.
The Konza Prairie is made up of several unique ecosystems including shrub, forest, and even claypan.
The area is also home to a number of different animal species including 31 mammals, 34 amphibians, and 20 fish.
Did we mention you may run across one of the local buffalo, bison, or white-tailed deer during your journey across the prairie?
This only begins to scratch the surface of why we find the Konza Prairie to be the most beautiful hike in the state. Which Kansas hike is your favorite? For a list of ours, click on
