Take An Easy Out-And-Back Trail To Enter Another World At Warner Memorial Park In Kansas
Kansas has beauty around every corner, and Manhattan is no different. For an easy out-and-back trail in Kansas, you’ll want to check out Linear Trail for the stunning views you’ll find at the river. Come see for yourself what this spot has to offer!
The beautiful Linear Trail in Manhattan, Kansas is perfect for a nice day outdoors, as long as it hasn't been too rainy recently.
Starting in Warner Memorial Park, it runs for about 16.8 miles towards the Kansas river. Of course, it turns into a whole different scene once you hit the water.
Out-and-back means that if you start at the trailhead in the park or the south location, you'll travel to the end of the trail and have to backtrack to get back where you were. Luckily, it has a couple access points for us to use.
Dogs are allowed, but the path isn't always paved, so bikes may have a bit of trouble depending on the last rain. Make sure you bring your bug spray for the weedier areas!
The most stunning part about this area is the railroad portion, which reaches out over the water and makes for great photos. For us, it's almost like a whole other world has opened up with the path's change.
If you're not too familiar with Manhattan, we recommend rounding out your visit with a trip to somewhere local. We recommend spots like Taco Lucha or Mrs Powell's Bakery.
For more information about the trail, check out the Linear Trail AllTrails page. There, you’ll also find updates on the path quality or closings.
