A Drone Flew High Above A Pasture Burn In Kansas And Caught The Most Incredible Footage
Drone pilots can use this technology for many things, but have you considered how convenient it is to watch your pasture burn from the sky? Keeping an eye on the edges and how things are moving is much easier from a bird’s eye view. YouTube creator and cattle rancher RedHillsRancher filmed this stunning scene on a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus, and we can’t be more thankful. I certainly have never seen a pasture burn from the sky, so this view is surely one in a million.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. Kansans are familiar with the days when the skies fill with smoke from our grasslands and farms. We know they burn the prairie to keep it healthy, and we're no stranger to seeing smoke over the highway. We've even seen the burning from ditch-side when we drive by, but have you seen it from above?
RedHillsRancher really captures the beauty and sheer power of fire in this amazing drone video. It offers a little seen perspective on how many hands it takes to safely burn and just how fast our prairie goes up in flames.

The burning takes place at the Johnson ranch in Deerhead, and the reason for doing it in a circular form is to close the fire off. If it's closed off, it has a smaller chance of getting out of hand. Also on his channel you'll find plenty of other Kansas rancher things, from cow rotation to flame throwers and more burns. It's a little slice of the rancher life.
Do you take amazing drone videos and want your piece featured here? We’d love to see the footage you have, and you can submit it via our new nomination feature. Even if you just know of a cool place to visit without a drone video, we’d still love to hear about it.
