Well, it finally happened; the Midwest has started to cool down. Isn’t it wonderful? Now that the feeling of fall is officially in the air, it is time to make plans to take in the changing colors, breath in the crispness of the air, and attend these 11 unique Kansas fall festivals:

Fall kicks off THIS WEEK at the Walnut Valley Festival, which runs September 14-18th and features world-class music and contests.

Another fun family event that takes place this weekend (September 15-18th) is that of the Clearwater Fall Festival! Make a trip to Clearwater for carnival rides, games, arts & crafts, and even a parade.

I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Oktoberfest once or twice (or four times) during my college career at FHSU... what's not to love about beer, yummy German food, beer, vendors, and beer?! (Oktoberfest takes place September 30th.)

Not to be confused with Oktoberfest, OZtoberfest is a one-day (October 1st) event celebrating all things Wizard of Oz with special screenings, fun family activities in Munchkinland, and even Uncle Henry's Farmers Market.

This year's Cornstock Music Festival (September 24th) features Montgomery Gentry... need we say more?

Another fun event taking place on September 24th is that of the Overland Park Fall Festival. Bring the entire family for a day full of music, food trucks, classic car show, and other fun surprises.

On September 30th and October 1st, the Goddard Fall Festival will be honoring its "Hometown Heroes" with parades, contests, and unique vendors. We'll see you there!

There is no better way to get into the fall spirit than by attending the Shawnee Scarecrow Festival (October 1st), which not only houses several festival favorites, but fun seasonal displays as well.

Pick some pumpkins, enjoy local artists, or watch the magic show and you will agree that Autumn is a lot more fun in the Grove! (The Lansing Fall Festival takes place October 8th.)

It only takes one visit to the City of Lyndon's Fall Festival to see why the nearly 2,000 residents have so much pride in their community. (This year's festival takes place October 1st.)

Since 1971, the Sugar Mound Arts & Crafts Festival has been pulling out all the stops in terms of promoting local vendors and artisans -- and this year's festivities (October 8th & 9th) guarantee to be no exception!
